Few experiences beat watching a big bull dolphin race toward the bait. Dolphin fishing is a Florida Keys favorite for good reason, and our captains play a hands-on role in putting you on them. Our captains out of Robbie’s Marina know these waters and where the fish hold. It is the kind of fishing that keeps anglers coming back to Islamorada.

Dolphin from 20 to 40 lb are common here, along with nice wahoo caught under floating debris. In spring, strong east winds push some of the largest mahi-mahi of the year into our waters from the Bahamas.
The largest mahi-mahi in state history was caught off the east coast of Florida, so a trophy-size bull dolphin is always worth chasing.
Easterly winds also pull the warm waters of the Gulf Stream close to the reef, and a good Gulf Stream current puts the dolphin into an all-out feeding frenzy. Nothing beats watching frigate birds work a school of large slammer dolphin feeding on flying fish.
Flying fish are one of the dolphin’s favorite foods, especially in spring, when they gather in big numbers.

Every captain out of Robbie’s Marina loves to catch mahi-mahi. They may be the best charter species in these waters.
Nothing beats a large school of these fish in a feeding frenzy at the back of the boat, with every angler hooked up at the same time.
They are acrobatic and among the most colorful fish anywhere in the world, so bring a camera. You might just get the shot.
